LH Moretsi, Rev. MGJ Shabele, Past. MED Lawman, Me. M Stanton, Mnr.

A summary of a few decisions taken at a recent Executive Meeting follows below:

1) A proposal towards the reformation of the Interest Groups is presently under consideration. Members may read the proposal here, and feedback can be sent to Louid Jonker (lcj@sun.ac.za).

2) An OTSSA bursary of R3000 is awarded to Ms. Euodia Volanie for her studies at the University of Fort Hare during 2008. Congratulations to her! Another bursary of R3000 is available for 2008. Applications can be sent to Magdel le Roux (lrouxm1@unisa.ac.za)..

3) We welcome the following new members: Prof Cas Labuschagne (honorary member), Rev. LH Moretsi, Rev. MGJ Shabele, Past. MED Lawman, Ms. M Stanton, Mr. CP van der Walt, Dr. PP Venter, Dr. Raymond de Hoop en Past. N van der Merwe (all full members).

4) The conference venue for 2008 has now been finalized: It will take place at the Univ. of Namibia, Windhoek, from 10-12 September. The SASNES conference will also take place in Windhoek from 8-9 September. More information follows later.

5) Arrangements for the joint conference of 2009 (22-26 June in Stellenbosch) are on track. More information follows later.

6) The Executive has taken the following decision: "Support for colleagues at UP: The Executive expresses its support officially for our members at UP (specifically Jurie le Roux and Dirk Human) who had to fend off immense attacks in therecent past from people within DR Church circles who bring their science and integrity of faith under suspicion. The Executive affirms to them that we are of the opinion that the approach to the Old Testament which they represent, is both responsible and accountable. The Executive also expresses the hope that this approach will find more entrance into the general deliberations of the Church, and that more openness for discourse and diversity will develop."

7) Unfortunately, the election of a new editorial committee for OTE did not take place at the AGM of 2007. The Executive has requested the present editorial committee to remain in office for another year, and that the election will take place at the 2008 AGM.
